NFL Quarterback legend Kurt Warner is giving Tim Tebow some surprising advice when it comes to professing Christ on the football field.
Warner, a professing Christian is telling Tim Tebow that he needs to
'Put down the boldness in regards to the words and keep living the way you're living.' These statements are coming from the same man that stated
"Thank You Jesus" after the 2000 St. Louis Rams won the super bowl.
Warner Stated that:
"There's almost a faith cliché, where (athletes) come out and say, 'I want to thank my Lord and savior,' " Warner told reporter Dan Bickley. "As soon as you say that, the guard goes up, the walls go up, and I came to realize you have to be more strategic. "
Warner went on to say he likes Tebow and wishes him to succeed, but fears the public doesn't understand him and fears it might be to much for the cynics to bear.
I like Kurt Warner, and I believe he is a devout Christian. However, I have to disagree with him on this one. Tim Tebow is not Kurt Warner, and what works for Warner does not necessarily work for Tim. I agree you have to walk to the walk and not just talk the talk, but Tebow is doing both.
Even my non-Christian friends take notice that Tebow is the real deal. Tim Tebow is currently the most polarizing figure in sports. His love for christ is causing so much conversation in sports and for Jesus that the public can't stand it. The message of Christ is refreshing and fulfilling to the Christian and vexing and foolishness to the non-believer.
I think it's great. Tim Tebow is being used by God in sports like we have never seen. Doesn't anyone take notice that the Media is attacking Tebow on a regular basis because of his faith?
Kurt Warner as a fellow Christian, you should be supporting Tim Tebow for the spread of the Gospel, not telling him to tone it down!
